Safer Parking Enforcement

To coincide with the start of the A*STARS programme for 2014/15 we are launching a safer parking campaign in conjunction with our Parking Enforcement Team.

2014 October Walk to School Month

We have now launched our October Walk to School Month campaign "Colour Your Tree", with great prizes to be won!

Exciting Free Road Safety Event- A.F Blakemore & Sons

A.F Blakemore & Sons are offering A*STARS schools the chance to participate in an exciting Road Safety event. They will attend your school for a morning or afternoon session and educate Yr 4 pupils on the dangers of playing near large HGV with a demonstration using one of A.F. Blakemore’s trucks.

New Zebra Crossing at Barcroft Primary School

During October half-term a Zebra Pedestrian Crossing was introduced on Stringes Lane to improve safety on the route to / from Barcroft Primary School.

New Cycle Storage at St John's Primary School

During March a new cycle / scooter storage was introduced at St John’s CE Primary School to encourage the use of these important sustainable travel modes.

Congratulations to Delves Junior School for winning this years annual A*STARS Inter-school Quiz 

2017 Bike Week!

Bike week is going to be held this year from 12th- 16th June. This year’s campaign is to ‘Get Creative’ and write a poem about why cycling is fun. The poem should consist of no more than two verses and your winning entry from each key stage will win a goodie bag.

This competition is also a great way to get your Sheriff’s involved, they could help promote the event or even help out with presenting prizes! We have included a poster for you to use too!

Once you have selected your winning entries (you do not need to send these in to us), please request your goodie bags (max 1 per key stage) no later than Friday 30th June and update your action plan once completed. Also please note you need to complete 2 out of the 3 campaigns displayed on your action plan.

2016 Sheriff Training Event

The annual A*STARS Sheriff training event took place on Wednesday, 28th September at the Forest Arts Centre. 

NEW School Safety Zone at Whitehall Junior School

Whitehall Junior School has recently benefited from having a “School Safety Zone” installed outside their school. 

Through the Schools A*STARS Action Plan, concerns were raised about drivers not observing the zebra crossing correctly. This was assessed against other school requests and was successful in receiving funding for a ‘Safer Route to School’ scheme in 2015/16.
