National Cycle Route 5

One of Walsall’s cycle routes is also part of the National Cycle Network (a bit like the motorway network for bikes). Walsall is served by National Cycle Route 5, which runs the entire length of the Borough. Starting at ‘The Delves’,  the route runs straight through Walsall town centre, via Highgate. From here, the route passes through ‘The Butts’ before joining the disused railway line up to Pelsall. The route then joins the canal to Brownhills, via ‘Ryders Hayes’, before exiting the North of the Borough at Chasewater.

The whole of Route 5 actually runs from Reading to Holyhead. Info on this and other national cycle routes can be found at www.sustrans.org.uk
